ARKIPEL Academy 2020

Following the tradition that we, Forum Lenteng, tried to build since 2017, the ARKIPEL Academy is one of our programs with a vision to map, as well as gather, potential young people of the film scene; especially in the fields of film production, film curation, and film criticism. The year 2020 is the fourth year of ARKIPEL Academy. The program will be held on 3-5 July 2020.

ARKIPEL Academy is a particular program held annually by Forum Lenteng as part of the ARKIPEL – Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival. This program aims to expand the function of the festival as a cinema educational institution. This year, the Academy will be realized in the form of an online workshop for several days, inviting qualified experts (activists and filmmakers) in their respective fields. This program intends to invites participants who have an interest in expanding their views on curatorial, criticism, and film production.

Some experts we invited to be the speakers in the ARKIPEL 2020 Academy are:

1. 1. Riri Riza (Makassar, 1970) is a director, screenwriter, and film producer.
   2. Tonny Trimarsanto is a filmmaker, cultural activist, educator, and film workshop facilitator.
   3. Yulia Evina Bhara is a film producer and cultural activist.
   4. Ifa Isfansyah is a director, screenwriter, film producer, educator, and film festival activist.
   5. Gaston Soehadi is a film scholar, writer, and film festival activist.
   6. Sidi Saleh is a film director, screenwriter, producer, and cinematographer.

This year, for the first time, ARKIPEL 2020 invites several collectives to be the participants. The collectives from all over Indonesia were chosen based on their activism in the film and media scene. Each collective will consist of 3 participants who will actively participate in online workshops and will make films based on topics proposed by the ARKIPEL Academy. The participants are:

9. Komunitas Pasirputih (North Lombok)
