Robby Ocktavian and Hafiz Rancajale represent the participants of Milisifilem Collective, Forum Lenteng to attend the 2019 Asian Film and Video Art Forum (AFVAF), which was curated by Kim Eunhee at MMCA – National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea. In its third edition, the fundamental question raised by AFVAF is: what is an artist? Forum Lenteng invited participants of Milisifilem Collective for AFVAF 2019 Workshop Project. In addition to Forum Lenteng, collectives who were involved included Space Cell, Korea; Los Otros, The Philippines; and Hanoi DocLab, Vietnam. Choosing the word “capital” as our common keyword, the four teams tried to produce video as a means to study and reinterpret the meaning of “capital” in their respective environments and the history of their respective regions. The video made by the participants, which numbered about 40 people in total, was not intended as the final work with artistic demands but rather as a recording that revealed their thoughts, attitudes, and research processes on “capital”. Representatives from each team will present the results of the research process and their discussion in a forum, while the research material, and videos uploaded by all participants will be published on separate websites. The final work created by Milisifilem Collective will be screened and discussed at: Militifilem Collective, Forum Lenteng will present a documentary video titled Feeding Frenzy.
