Art Residency Workshop Solidifying Religious Freedom in Indonesia (SOLID – ID)

On last August 26 – 29 August 2018, two of Forum Lenteng’s members – Anggraeni Widhiasih and Pingkan Polla – participated in an art residency workshop “Solidifying Religious Freedom in Indonesia” (SOLID-ID) held by Search for Common Ground – Indonesia in cooperation with spektakel.id . The workshop was held in Hotel Pendopo 45, Bogor and was attended by seven selected participants who will receive a grant for the art project Ramai tapi Damai (Crowded but Peaceful). For three days, the participants received some knowledge related to the elements and stage of management in the art project, about art as a medium for promoting peace, and discussion with communities supporting tolerance and diversity. The workshop was also the official beginning of the artist residency program.

Anggraeni responds the theme carried out by this art project – Ramai tapi Damai – by doing her drawing project called Lihat Kampungku (Look at My Village) involving the activity of drawing with children as a method to record the complexity of life in the outskirt of Jakarta and to offer diverse imagery of life in an urban village. While Pingkan responds that issue by a performance series “Live”. Through “Live”, she attempts to directly interact with the online ojek (motorcycle taxi) driver while broadcasting it in her Instagram account. Through small talks, she tries to negotiate with the inconvenient distance to open up intimate spaces in public spaces and to experience the complexity of diversity in those spaces.
