On April 18, 2018, Theo Nugraha (26 years), an artist from Samarinda, East Kalimantan, gave a brief presentation about his works and art projects, especially since 2013. The artist focusing on sounds also shared his story and views on the Samarinda’s art scene. Theo is actively involved in several national and international art events, including the latest: Soemardja Sound Art Project, Bandung, West Java (29 March – 19 April 2018) supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture through the cooperation Program of Media Arts Directorate of Arts, Directorate General of Culture; Audioblast Festival #6, Nantes, France (22-24 February 2018); and Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film, Video & Music Festival 2017: Crossing Over (24-26 November 2017). There was one that attracted the attention of Lenteng Forum’s member at the presentation and discussion, it was Theo’s project entitled Mahakam Graphic Score (2018), an exhibition project that attempted to narrate the Mahakam River, related to mythology, mystery, and other events in Samarinda, through the medium of graphic notation which was the result of the artist’s interpretation of the voices around the location and the issue of the Mahakam River.
