TIME CODE – 69 Performance Club at galerikertas, studiohanafi

In this 18th edition, 69 Performance Club raises “Sandi Kala” or “Time Code” as the curatorial theme. Sandi Kala invites its participants to explore the scattered collective narrative codes and bring back their performative potential, especially the collective narratives reserved in the text, both texts as texts and in a broader context. The performative potential of these narratives will be presented through text, motion, and form as well as their relevance to the distribution of collective narratives in the Southeast Asian region today.

On 15 February 2020 at galerikertas, studiohanafi, Depok, 69 Performance Club presented four performance works. The first one entitled BAUR: UNDO by Dhuha Ramadhani and Robby Ocktavian. This is the second edition of BAUR, in this work Dhuha and Robby seeks to make an inquiry attempt at distortive experiences that exists and taken for granted in society. They used digital data that has been scattered from previous editions, such inquiry is presented in a reverse sequence of events in the telecommunications process via the internet. The second works entitled Irritiating Intimacy: Light and The Iron Sea by Riyadhus Shalihin. The work is a performative experiment that begins with the search for ideas about painful, obscure, and strange intimacy, but there is also relief, loss, and elegance that exist between the nuances of threshold and reverie. This intimacy departs from the story of Riyadh’s grandfather, who came from Aceh and Grandma who came from Minangkabau. He then arranged this story to the fiction and nostalgia about the story and poetry of Hamzah Fansuri into poetry about human migration that occurs, both under trade and political motives.

The third work is Come To Me All Who Labor And Are Heavy Laden And I Will Give You Rest (No. 2) by Pingkan Polla. She chose work-related issue and how repetitive patterns used by the body to deliver the statement. This performance attempts to question the biblical inerrancy or the doctrine of absolute truth by deconstructing a biblical text through a performative action. The last performance is Nandak Ganjen Jakarta Tenggara by Otty Widasari and her Theater Group project. The work seeks stories in locations that have memories of conversations between communal bodies and southeast rhythms.

That day at least 89 audiences attend the performance, most of them are the high school students from SMK Atlantis plus, SMK Tadika pertiwi, and SMK Yadika 12 Limo.
