Since September 2017 until now, the collective study Milisifilem has been consistently stimulating its participants’ visual understanding by conducting a diverse set of learning methods, starting from the most primordial visual practice such as drawing lines and shading, until the making of more complicated artworks like a sketch, oil pastel painting and moving image. These practices were enriched by an intensive study on the history of art along with an exploration of the participants’ social and daily life context. The outputs of this long process are presented in exhibition FIKSIMILISI in Orbital Dago, Bandung. The 23 participants included in this exhibition are Ahmad Humaidi, Afrian Purnama, Alifah Melisa, Anggraeni Widhiasih, Dhanurendra Pandji, Dhuha Ramadhani, Dini Adanurani, Erviana Madalina, I Gede Mika, Luthfan Nur Rochman, Manshur Zikri, Maria Deandra, Maria Silalahi, Niskala H. Utami, Pingkan Polla, Prashasti Wilujeng Putri, Pychita Julinanda, Robby Ocktavian, Syahrullah, Taufiqurrahman, Theo Nugraha, Wahyu Budiman Dasta, Yuki Aditya. The opening ceremony for this exhibition was held on Friday, 15 September 2019. At around 19.00, the garden and gallery area have been crowded with visitors and 23 exhibition participants. The occasion was opened by Rifki Effendi, also known as Goro, as the owner of Orbital Dago gallery, followed by Hafiz Rancajale as the curator and facilitator of Milisifilem platform. A diverse kind of artworks were exhibited on this occasion, summarizing the exploration and study of Milisifilem participants whose divided into three study batches: Melati, Mawar and Anggrek. The artworks presented are including oil pastel paintings, Chinese ink sketches of plants, charcoal sketches of Pasar Minggu (in small and big size), and moving image (line, plane and collage). There are also two interactive artworks. First, Fiksi Teman project, in which the participants from Anggrek batch adapting the life of their friends into fiction taking form the Chinese ink sketches, and were printed as a book available for the visitors to read. Second, the Chinese ink sketch of scenes from Bicycle Thief by Vittoria de Sica, also printed as books curated in a certain theme, and mini-posters – printed and copied – available for the visitors as souvenirs. Afterwards, on Saturday, 16 March, a discussion with Hafiz Rancajale and 23 Milisifilem participants was held, moderated by Rifky Effendi. Topics related to the early formation of Milisifilem, its learning process, the challenges it faced and shift of perspective triggered by the learning process were discussed thoroughly.
