The end of ARKIPEL bromocorah – 7th Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival doesn’t reduce the passion of its organizers and participants. Just a day after ARKIPEL’s closing night, a master class studying the use of celluloid in filmmaking was held in the headquarter of Forum Lenteng in Tanjung Barat, South Jakarta. In this occasion, there are 9 participants in the master class, namely Valencia Winata, Maria Deandra, Taufiqurrahman, Afrian Purnama, Dhanurendra Pandji, I Gede Mika, Dhuha Ramadhani, Theo Nugraha and myself. Some other Forum Lenteng’s member who wasn’t participant observed the process, and at times the joined the interaction with the celluloid Scott has brought.

We learned how to use a Bolex camera, lots of mathematical and chemical stuff related to operating the apparatus and processing the film. And we had experience taking the camera out and shooting our neighbourhood, some participants experimented with double exposure. The film was processed in a dark room, then dried and spliced by hand. The film from the workshop was screened at Forum Lenteng on the second day.
