A private room contains cultural artifacts of the people living in them. Those artifacts holds personal memories of the owner that are also related to the current social situation. There are potential archeological, anthropological, and sociological ways to read these everyday objects and how they create a ‘visual language’. In this project, the participants are asked to rearrange found objects based on their personal experience within their private rooms. They are free to combine and arrange the found objects to create a new meaning to these objects. The arrangements are framed within a photograph and read as a whole composition. Using found objects as an art practice isn’t something new, but the Montage: Found Objects project allows for the participants to reconnect the interpersonal relationship with their belongings to reflect on a social aspect. This project critically sees how each individual has a space that was ‘forgotten’, that, in reality, has a connection with our social climate.
